The Latins took the city and would hold it for decades after shattering the former Eastern Empire into several rump states and declaring their own Latin Empire. Once again, the Empire started to make a remarkable recovery until Latin Crusaders sacked the Imperial Capital in 1204, leaving the Empire much poorer, smaller, and ultimately less able to defend itself against the Turkish conquests that followed.

I will sometimes alter the map and my rivals via console to give Elysia more of a challengeĪ much later depiction of the Sack of Constantinople.

Due to the sheer strength of a late game Elysia, I will be happy if I can lose a war naturally.

I will try my best to roleplay as each monarch, making choices in-character that can potentially have positive or negative consequences.

The story takes priority over the gameplay as, after-all, who doesn't love a good story? I will be setting my own rules as listed below. I'll be seeking to become a great power within this game.Īs I'm not a highly experienced player, I will likely intervene and cheat through the console in the course of this game to make my experience much more difficult or to fix any consistencies for 'realism' purposes.

In this tale I will be playing from 1444 as the Byzantine Empire on it's very last legs, hanging onto life by a thread, before a grand exodus to the New World completely changes the fortunes of the Empire forever.
